Is this heaven?

Oh, Baby, not even close. I've had some good times here on Earth, but Heaven, it is not! To give a little background...

My grandmother passed away over the weekend. My dear, wonderful, sweet grandmother. I won't try to give all the details of her life, but at her service so many people mentioned how much she loved Jesus. And how she served others. And how she never complained, though she had much to complain about. And I got to thinking...would anyone say that I love Jesus? In what ways do I demonstrate that? I'm hard pressed to identify anything tangible. And I've got very little to complain about, however I find myself doing just that far too often. To live as my grandmother is something to strive for. I wonder what I could do differently so that I might be remembered as she is?

On to something a little less heavy. We tried to tell Baby about GG (Baby's name for my grandmother), and we said we were going to tell GG good bye because she lives in Heaven with Jesus now. So, shortly after the family filed into the church Baby looks at my mom and loudly asks, "Is this Heaven?" Ha ha! At least that got a smile from those who heard. And the little toot toot Baby let out at a very quiet moment even garnered some chuckles. I think the pastor was a little confused at why the first two rows were laughing during his remarks...oops!

I wonder if I should write about what it's like to travel 5 plus hours with a 2 week old and and 3 year old. No. I'll just leave that up to your own imagination and it's just as miserable as you think. We did manage to make it in time for the service, not that any of us were in any sort of condition to function properly, but we were there!

Back to a few more serious remarks. My heart is really sad that GG didn't meet Little Baby. Little Baby is named after my grandfather. And I know that was special to my grandmother (he passed a few years ago...when Baby was only 5 weeks old, so we've done this before). Just 12 more hours. That's all I needed. 12 more hours and they coulda met. But I guess that's just selfish on my part. She's much happier now, I know. Not that she was miserable here, but there seems to come a point when folks would rather not be a part of this world any longer. And who could blame them when we know what's in store for us? Is this Heaven? No, Baby, we are not in Heaven. But we will be one sweet day. When our purpose here on Earth is fulfilled, Heaven is waiting for us.

Your entry was amazing. It brought tears to my eyes. Mostly from your last paragraph. My father died when Sean was 8 months old and of course never got to meet his other grandchildren. Sadly my children will never meet their grandfathers from either side and tonight your entry really hit home.
Of course some of those tears came from your babies. They do say the cutest things and well do the um cutest things. My brother burped ratherly loudly during his baptisim so we know all about akward moments ha ha!
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time as I know it is not easy to deal with. Know you have so many people around you that love you and are here for you and your family. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
