Kids

I will never ever as long as I live understand children. They are a bewildering, wild species to me. I wonder if that's how men think about women? Anywho, I can understand those who are so fascinated by those little tiny undeveloped brains that they want to study children psychiatry.
Not that this is a totally wild story, but here is what happened to lead me to these thoughts. I was cleaning the kitchen (as I continually do, yet no one would ever know), and realized I had lost tabs on the eldest of my children. And it was quiet. Always a bad sign.
So, I roamed about and found Baby, stripped with panties on only, knees bent, crouched, perched in springboard position on the end of my bed. Just ready to jump to the moon, so it appeared. One look over her shoulder, realizing she had been caught, a wild gleam in here eye, and she let loose with all her four year old glory, knowing she was wrong, but loving every second of the journey. I had to cross my eyes to keep myself from laughing, then sternly ordered her to do 10 push ups.
Now I ask...what, if anything would ever prompt YOU to take off all your clothes and jump off the side of your bed? Nothing, I'm pretty sure. But for Baby, it was just something she HAD to do. Ah...I wonder when and how we finally kill this wild drive and ambition out of our children in the name of proper behavior? It almost makes me sad from time to time. So I'll try to enjoy the journey, just like Baby.

Out of the mouths

of 4 year olds...

Prayer tonight

"Dear God, please help Mr. Marty as he tells us the Bible story, and please help me listen and keep my bottom in the chair until the grown ups say it is time to leave."

So glad I'm not teaching a bunch of 4 year olds at VBS this week! I'm having waaayyyy more fun outside playing with the kiddos in the tent!

The Frogs

So Hubby is out on his 2 week army training stint, which means Momma has got us all kinds of over scheduled. At least time passes that way. Since we're so over scheduled, I was gonna try to stick around the house Saturday, but it just didn't happen. We did for most of the morning, but round about 3 o'clock bedtime seems far too far in the distance, so we set out on an adventure.

We've already hit the local sprayparks (which Little Baby actually enjoyed), so I didn't wanna do that again. Couldn't find any neighbor kids to come run through our sprinkler, and it's just more fun that way, so we headed out. For a glorified spraypark, if you will. The arboretum has these awesome actual works of art that are huge toads that spit water onto a globe thingie in the middle. Lots of kids splash around in it, but not usually adults. I took the plunge, tho, since LB is still quite small. He loved it! And Baby loved it too! Best way to kill an hour or so. And it wasn't quite as rowdy as the normal sprayparks. And maybe best of all, it wore the kids out so well we pretty much did a quick bath, dinner, bed routine and Momma had a bit o time to myself. Which is awesome because....

I've been totally stressed out about our new house! And I needed some chill time to myself. I sat on the couch, watched TV, and ate chips. And did I mention we had cereal for dinner? If it weren't for the kids I was chasing, I'd think I was a bachelor. OK, back to the house. We've got signed contracts, and the option period closes today, so it's pretty much a done deal. We don't close until July, so between now and then we get to pick out carpet, kitchen counters, paint, etc...I'm just gonna get excited. Well, duh, you might say. But I am after all of the female kind, and it's in our blood to worry a bit. You may be wondering if we've sold our current home. And a big fat NO is the answer to that. We're either idiots or taking it on faith. I'm gonna go with faith. It will be fine. And if you know of anyone looking to move into the area...just make an offer. You'd be surprised what we would accept!

Alright. So I'm picking up around the house, and I ask...why does Little Baby have TWO pair of shoes out when he doesn't even WEAR shoes?? Where does this mess come from? Ah, just another unanswered question.
