arrggg

I just wrote a super phun post and my computer zapped it! So, instead of re-writing, here are some odd photos. I have TV watching to get to!
PS: My computer is sick. I must have downloaded one too many instant communication methods! Any computer experts out there?!

Sadie's prayer requests

So, we've been saying prayers before bed for quite some time. For months the ONLY request she has had was for "My Daddy". So sweet, huh? Well, she has recently added some new requests. They are as follows:

-Elmo
-Eloise
-Sadie, Sadie, Sadie! (said with much gusto)
-Mommy (finally!)
-and tonight's new request: Veggie Tales

I almost can't wait to put her to bed to see what she'll pray for next!

Things to share

Ya know, there are a lot of things that just really stink with Hubby being gone, and one of them is that there is no one to easily share with all those funny things kids do. Oh, how I just wish someone coulda seen Baby pulling ME in the wagon! Oh my goodness! It's times like these that I know God sees and I can share those moments with him. And I can tell everyone else. Seriously! Baby pulled me in the wagon. It started with me pulling her, of course. And someone she busted her lip (really, no idea how because I had my back to her pulling her...I just suddenly heard a horrible scream). And so I picked her up and cuddled her for awhile. And of course she didn't want to get back in so we walked. She wanted to pull the handle...OK, cute. Then she said, "Mommy, sit down" and patted inside the wagon. Well, what was I to do other than sit down?! And she actually pulled me! Just a tiny bit, then she appropriately said, "Heavy". Ah.

And thank you to all who have phoned. Wow! What a response. It's kinda funny...someone will call and I'll think, oh this is nice! And we'll be having a nice chat when suddenly I say...hey, did you read my blog? Ha ha. Oh well, I'm glad my pleas worked.

Call me

Why are you not calling me? I don't understand. So many people have been so very thoughtful to offer to help in any way. I understand it is up to me to tell people HOW to help, and my normal response to that question is:

1) oh, thanks, I'm just not even sure what I need
2) just pray
AND
3) CALL ME

I am lonely and I am hurting and I don't understand why my phone does not ring. Shame on you. I don't even know who reads this, but I hope it is someone who has my phone number. I'm not asking for a sitter, I'm not asking for you to hike it out for a visit. I'm asking for a phone call.

People ask Hubby how they can help, and he tells people to call me. He was surprised to learn that he makes my phone ring from The Iraq more than ANY other person makes my phone ring. Yes, that's right. I get more phone calls from The Iraq than from anywhere else.

Now, I'm not looking to make anyone angry. If you're reading this and wringing your hands about wanting to do something but not knowing what to do, just make my phone ring, ok?

Today was a fun day

Ah, Mondays. Sometimes Mondays can be the hardest day. But not today! It was a MOPS day, which is always enjoyable. AND Baby took a 3 hour nap! Oh, don't you just love those rare days? I guess she was worn out from getting up at 6 all weekend. I took advantage of the time by taking a little nap and getting a head start on dinner...spinach pita pizzas, which went over VERY well. I felt so healthy.

We ran a few errands which included a trip to the vet for Weenie who has some weird skin fungus and swollen paws. I don't think the 2 are connected. Anyway, an arm and a leg later plus 2 new meds, I think we're all set. It seems like Weenie is an old lady with health problems. She still barks like a toddler, though. Hubby will also be glad to know we got a new webcam. I bought the one that said "easy install". I haven't installed it yet, so we'll see.

So, cute things Baby did today: read books on the couch under the blanket with me, enjoyed a drink from Sonic (half price hour, of course), and just about everything else, really. She is so often such a good girl.

OK, time to unwind. I think I'll have a piece of that whole grain banana bread I made...mmm...does it sound like I'm a little granola these days?!

McDonald's

One may ask how is it possible that at the ripe old age of 22 months Baby has never been to McDonald's. And the answer is that Momma hates McDonald's. Which may be a little harsh, but I think there are WAY better fast food options. But today was a day of firsts, and one of them was lunch at McDonald's. Not because I wanted to go, but we were with some friends who apparently live there, so we went along for the ride. And it wasn't too bad, but I'm sure we will NOT make it a regular item on the agenda. For a few reasons. One of them is because their menu is retarded. Why is there no option for a single burger and fries? That is what a normal person should eat. No, you must get TWO burgers and fries if you want the meal deal, which I unknowingly ordered. And then when I addressed the issue to the folks at the counter, guess who was met with blank stares. Yes, it was I. I mean, I guess any dummy could see on the menu that a "number 2" has 2 burgers, but I didn't ORDER a number 2. Yet I had 2 burgers. I decided it was easier just to go with it. And guess who ate 2 burgers? No one, thankfully. I did have a little of the second one, though.

OK. The other first was the McDonald's playground, where Baby got stuck! It was so sad. She climbed way up high (OK, fine, so she was playing in the big kid area, but she loves it, normally). And she couldn't get down. I could see her little sad face through the plastic, looking and crying. So sad. When I got up there she had her jacket off (how in the world?!) and another little boy had her in a choke hold. Mean.

So, what a morning. Luckily for Momma she stayed awake the whole ride home and is now considering a nap. Or maybe it is Momma who is considering the nap. Baby is in her crib, so that is a start, but I don't hear sleepy sounds.

While we were out on our McDonald adventure, we missed Hubby/Daddy's phone call. That is always so sad. Oh! And Baby's b-day present arrived...check it out at http://www.skuut.com/

Ug, my tummy feels McGross.

2009 whoo hoo!

OK, here is why I'm excited about 2009: It is the year Hubby comes home from The Iraq! Much better than 2008, which was the year Hubby WENT to The Iraq. So glad THAT year is over and done with. So, how did we spend our NYE? Mmm...not sure if I should admit all. Let's just say that I'm completely rested today. And I played some wii games. And injured my leg (again!). What is the deal, yo?! Good thing I'm being fabulous on Monday and dropping Baby off at the drop in place while I get a massage. Timing couldn't be more perfect (unless, of course that massage was today).

Let's see. This very first day of 2009 was OK. The parents were here for awhile (returning Baby to me), which was nice. Dad did all the man stuff for me (thanks Dad), so I have a few less chores for the next couple of days. Mom and I did some shopping (of course). Don't worry, Hubby, most (uh, most, but not all, that is) everything I tried on didn't fit well.

It wasn't until later that I got lonely. After nap. After some time outside (weather is pretty nice) jumping (Baby, not me). I decided that Baby and I should celebrate the new year by going to get an ice cream. And since this is the first time we've done that since Hubby left (it has been FAR too long), it made me miss him a little bit more (seriously? seriously? miss him MORE? man, how bad is it going to get with 240 days left?). I guess because that is the sort of thing you do with your family. And new years day is a day you spend with your family. And my family is wounded. Not broken, but wounded. Not necessarily on life support, but sick, I guess. Just like with a cold, not cancer. I mean, you know you'll get over it, but com'on. It's lasting forever! Ah, but as I already mentioned, 2009 (the later half, anyway) will be a great (or at least better) year.

So, after the ice cream we went to the park, where Baby was having a delightful time. Too bad she decided not to listen to Momma and we had to leave. That makes me so sad (and Baby quite angry). Later on (and most of the time, really), she did a great job at obeying me, and I told her that she would get rewarded in heaven. Maybe a little deep, but hey, I've been brainstorming about rewards other than food, and what is better than a reward in heaven?! Not quite the gratification a nearly 2 year old probably wants, though, huh? Ah, guess I'll keep thinking.

Well, pat myself on the back. Here it is not even a full day into this very 2009 and I have ALL my Christmas items packed up and put away. I guess I shouldn't give myself too hearty of congratulations, though, since I've already told on myself that I didn't really get much out in the way of decorations. To all my special readers, happy happy New Year!
